Dear Aviator:
The following
information is furnished to explain the process.
Section 207, Title 5,
Vermont Statutes Annotated, contains requirements for the Transportation
Board to issue Certificates of Approval for restricted landing areas
before use. An "Application for Establishment or Alteration of a
Restricted Landing Area” can be downloaded from this page.
It should be submitted
to this office along with evidence of “municipal approval” as required
by the statute. This documentation should be a letter signed by the
Chairman of the Select board indicating your site has the approval of the
town involved.
FAA Form 7480-1 (download from this page) should also be
submitted to the FAA in accordance with the instructions on the form,
with a copy to this office along with your application. Please read
the instructions
(download from this page), which indicate
applicability.
Prior to approval of
your landing area, a public hearing process will be triggered requiring
certified mail notification of abutters, the placement of newspaper and
other announcements of the hearing, and your attendance at the hearing,
which will be conducted by a hearing officer from the Transportation
Board. You will be provided detailed instructions by of the hearing
process by the Board.
On receipt of your
completed "Application for Establishment or Alteration of a Restricted
Landing Area", I will contact you to set up an appointment to inspect
the site.
Please contact me if you
have any further questions.
Sincerely,
AOT-OPSaeronautics@state.vt.us
